Backup
Programs
Backup Programs
Backup Programs
are computer software used to perform a
complete backup of a file, data,
database, system or server. Backup
programs allow you to make an exact
duplicate of everything contained on the
original source (server, volume,
computer, disk, etc.). This program must
also be able to perform a recovery
of the data or system in the event of a
disaster.
Choosing the right backup program is
very important. Different software use
different methods to backup data. For
example, some solutions will backup only
to tape, while others will backup to
disk. Some software programs will use a
file-by-file method to perform a backup,
while others will backup an entire
volume or drive to the hardware you
specify.
Some things to consider when choosing a
backup program are the length of time it
will take to
back
up your systems and
data, the reliability of the hardware on
which your back up will be stored and
the experience of the developers of the
software.
